Grenada To Send Five Swimmers off to Mexico

Grenada Olympic Committee is sending a team of five swimmers and one coach, to represent Grenada at the Pan American Sports Festival 2014 in Mexico.

The swimmers are National Sportswoman 2013 and three times CARIFTA & CISC Medalist Oreoluwa Cherebin, Carifta Medalist Corey Ollivierre, OECS Gold medalist, Andrew Hopkin, Adrian Andall and Khalil John with their coach Damique Walters.

The team left Grenada Monday 22nd September, for Mexico, via Miami and are expected to return to Grenada on the October 1st.

The swimmers are in good spirits and they are looking forward to this festival.

The Pan American Sports Festival was organized jointly between Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) and its relevant sporting bodies governing sports that are included in the sports program for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

Athletes participating in the Pan American Sports Festival will be members of national organizations. They should be pre selected in their respective countries and should be considered among the potential participants in the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Disciplines to be competed include: Athletics, Badminton, Bowling, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Water Polo, Fencing, Water Skiing, Gymnastics, Judo, Karate, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Skating, Pentathlon, Racquetball, Squash, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Archery and Triathlon.

Participation of 3,600 athletes, 1,050 coaches, delegates and staff, for a grand total of more than 4,600 participants are expected.
